Riverbed, Microsoft Partner on Branch Office Security
By: TechBriefTeam  |  2010-07-02  |

When it comes to data protection, Riverbed isn’t necessarily looking to beat its security counterparts, but rather provide options by integrating firewall and threat management controls with its Steelhead WAN Optimization Devices. The latest move is a partnership with Microsoft that will integrate Forefront Threat Management Gateway 2010 on the Riverbed Services Platform.

This Riverbed partnership with Microsoft is the latest in a series of deals announced by the company to expand its security options. In April, Riverbed announced a deal to integrate Steelhead with McAfee’s next-generation firewall software. Riverbed also has similar arrangements with Check Point and Websense.

For Riverbed, this particular partnership is an opportunity to tap into the vast Microsoft channel community and leverage attached sales to the global Microsoft install base. Bowley says Riverbed will launch marketing and support programs for partners to promote and extend the Microsoft partnership.
